No Christmas Tree on SM City Davao?

About a week ago, I went to SM City in Davao to do some shopping. At that time, something struck me… It was already December, and there was no Christmas Tree at SM! I was kind of shocked by this, because SM has always had a Christmas Tree, and the mall has always been well decorated for Christmas!

This year, on top of having no Christmas Tree, there are few Christmas decorations at all in the Mall! The only Christmas decorations that I saw in the mall when I was looking today were a few clear colored Christmas lights marking the border between the first and second floor of the mall! I am really disappointed that SM has chosen to not display Christmas decor this year. In addition, in the past there has always been a lot of Christmas music playing over the mall’s sound system, but this year the amount of Christmas music that they are playing is very limited. I am wondering, is SM still hoping to capitalize on the Christmas Shopping Season this year? I have decided, personally to spend money at NCCC Mall this year, because they have a very large Christmas Tree right at the entrance, and you can just feel the joy of the Christmas season when you go to NCCC, compared to SM.

I haven’t checked the other malls in Davao, but over the next few days, I will certainly make it a point to go and see what they are offering.

Parade of Lights in Davao Christmas Lights

During Christmas season every single night in Davao City is accentuated with glitters and lights. A view of the part of Davao City at night taken in the roof deck of the Landco Corporate Center building in J.P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City. You can see in the right side part of Victoria Plaza, one of the malls here in Davao and also the old Durian Hotel (tall building on the upper right of this photo).

Christmas in Davao has been made more unique because of the Christmas decors displayed in Mana Davao at Mana Compound, J.P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City (near Kar Asia Bajada) which draws people to visit the place at night when the Christmas lights are turned on because of their beautiful and very attractive colorful Christmas display which has a different theme each year. The lights are turned on every night when it gets dark until midnight as the guard told us.

I like the feeling sitting with my friends in this little red Christmas house as I call it. Wish we have one like this right at home. My nephews would really enjoy and love it!

The giant lighted Christmas tree outside Victoria Plaza in Davao City has already been lighted attracting more people there every night. Some if not most of the people you see there are taking photos of the giant Christmas trees with their cellphones, digital cameras and DSLRs. But most won’t leave the place without of course having a souvenir photo of themselves having the Christmas tree as their background. This is the tallest and biggest Christmas tree in Davao City.

This has been a tradition of Victoria Plaza Mall in Davao City to put up and light this giant Christmas tree outside the mall and just a few meters away from McDonald’s Bajada. Every year we try to go there to take a photo of this wonderful tree that adds more attraction to Davao City especially during the Christmas holiday season.

One thing I like most of this Christmas tree is when I see young children going there with there parents looking at it with awe and such joy and excitement that you will see in their faces. There are some kids also who stay there and play. By the way if you feel cold suring Christmas, you go there and go near the tree and you will feel the heat if not warmth it emits with thousand of Christmas lights lighting up together or sometimes alternately. It is really beautiful sight and when you are in Davao during the Christmas holidays you should check this out. Or you can always look at it while eating at McDonalds Bajada branch.

Why I Like RedHorse Beer?

Photobucket
My Intro:

First of all the happy horse having a stronger kick is a myth. They are the same brew because they come from the same line in the brewing process. The only difference between the happy horse and the regular RH is the packaging. What they call the happy horse is the old packaging. Red Horse changed a little bit of their logo in 1992 which resulted in new bottles being made. The old bottles (happy horse) still exist because RH bottles are recycled and cleaned. Their life span is 20 years before they get discarded. You can determine the age of the bottle by looking at the bottle's scuff level. It's the white band around the neck of the bottle. the thicker it is, the older the bottle.

Now going to your questions:

Red Horse when compared to different beer brands in the Philippines is sweeter because of the amount of hops it contains. Ingredients of the beer are malt, sugar, cereals, hops and brewing water. I like the kick of Red Horse because it has 6.8% alcohol by volume. Red horse tastes more bitter than the usual sanmiguel beers, but sometimes it tastes sweet especially when ice cold.
Photobucket
I rate it as a 10 for the following reasons:

1. You get drunk easily after drinking 3 or more bottles.

2. You spend less. A regular redhorse 500ml bottle costs around 30 pesos on retail and the grande (1000ml) bottle costs 55 pesos.

3. It tastes like a true beer because it has that bitter-sweet taste as compared to sanmig light or strong ice which tastes like beer dilluted in water.

4. No hangovers for me. Drinking san mig makes me feel tired, heavy, sleepy and bloated. Plus, drinking a lot of San Mig causes a terrible hangover. Redhorse makes me sleep like a newly born baby without the hangover.

5. You guys should try it. I recommend drinking 3-5 bottles of redhorse stallion first, then shift to the 500 ml bottle. Advance redhorse beer drinkers drink the Grande (1L) straight from the bottle.

Serving Suggestions:

3-5 bottles of stallion - perks you up and heightens your spirits after office or school

3-5 bottles of 500 ml - recommended for a friday or saturday gimick till morning.

3-4 bottles of Grande (1L) - for those who wants to feel temporary amnesia, numbness and a good remedy for insomia.

Top 10 Pinoy Christmas Carol

Photobucket
The celebration of Christmas in the Philippines wouldn't be as merry and as spirited without Christmas carols. As early as the month of October, Christmas carols are being played over the radios and DVD players, and being sung by carolers on the streets. Filipinos love singing them especially during karoling, wherein adult and children alike go house-to-house to sing their most favorite Christmas songs.

Among the 10 most popularly sung Christmas carols in the Philippines are:

1. Sa May Bahay Ang Aming Bati

The first song in mind of almost all carolers and usually sung to start the caroling. The lyrics of this Filipino Christmas carol basically express a warm Christmas greeting to the household being caroled.

2. Ang Pasko ay Sumapit

This timeless song by Levi Celerio has caught the Filipino Christmas spirit more than any other local song. Written originally in Visayan language by a famous Cebuano poet, Vicente Rubi, on April 1933. It is a favorite among children carolers due to its popularity and amusing rhymes.

3. Christmas in our Hearts

"Whenever I see girls and boys selling lanterns on the streets...," the first line of the song "Christmas in our Hearts, written by Rina CaƱiza and Jose Mari Chan. This Christmas carol has truly captivated the hearts of the Filipinos with its lyrics reminding us of the real meaning of the season--that Jesus is the reason for celebrating Christmas.

4. Pasko Na Sinta Ko

A sentimental and intense song composed by Francis M. Dandan and sung by Gary Valenciano in 1976, this song expresses the extreme yearning of a person for an absent sweetheart on Christmas.

5. Pasko na Naman

Composed by Felipe De Leon and lyrics by Levi Celerio, this is another favorite among the carolers. This merry song is about rejoicing that Christmas is here once again.

Shows carolers serenading a family living in a nipa hut decorated with star lanterns.
Shows carolers serenading a family living in a nipa hut decorated with star lanterns.

6. Mano po Ninong, Mano po Ninang

This song tells of the Filipino tradition of children greeting their Ninong (godfather) and Ninang (godmother) on Christmas day. They would either kiss or make mano (touching of forehead to the hand of the elder as a Filipino sign of respect) to their godparents, expecting to be given an aguinaldo (gift).

7. Himig ng Pasko

Interpreted by Apo Hiking Society, this is more mellow than the usual native Christmas carols. The melody and pleasant harmony of voices gives a peaceful feeling to everyone listening.

8. Sa Paskong Darating

This carol conveys that Christmas is really for children. The singer represents Santa Claus who would give the goodies children like best, as mentioned in the song: "...mansanas (apple), at ubas (grapes). May kendi at tosokolate ('Have candies and chocolates)..."

9. Noche Buena

Noche Buena is considered as one of the traditional Philippine Christmas songs and one of the favorite Christmas carols sung by carolers as they serenade families in every house Composed by Professor Felipe Padilla de Leon of Nueva Ecija, Noche Buena talks about the feasts that Filipino families usually prepare during Noche Buena.

10. Payapang Daigdig

In 1946, when the Philippines was liberated from the Japanese invasion, Prof. Felipe de Leon came up with a Christmas song called "Payapang Daigdig." Lyrics was provided by Brigido Batungbakal and Eduardo de Leon.

A lot of us call it PLUR. I sign it on everything because I believe in it.

I wanna see a change in the world. Whether it be global, or as simple as dropping change into the guitar case of someone playing for a meal, I wanna see it.

It starts with me.
It's up to you.
Together we can change the world.
Or maybe just one person's life.

Write about it.

No rules.

Why does every girl I know love Edward from the Twilight series?

Because girls like to think he's perfect. To them, he's the image of what a perfect boyfriend should be.

Here are the Quotes that most girls want to hear:

"Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars -- points of light and reason... And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. when you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything."

(Astonihed by the moment and all i can say is: WOW! GRABE KA JAMMING SA BAMPIRA!!) lol.

I talked to some of my friends here at the Davao Medical Center Why they really like the character of Edward in Twilight.

From:
Joane Gaas, RN:

I like him because he is the perfect guy most girls want hes protective, hot, mysterious, strong, smart, and loving and yea he is just a book character but they like the idea and person he represents simply put most girls like him because hes wat they want and desire: the perfect guy

From:
Elisa Servillon RN:

agree with Lucy Locket. there is no one else that can represent the perfect guy. they way he protects Bella--even from himself, even though he cant stand to be away from her--the way he fights for her with Jacob--and wins, and there are too many amaIng qualities about him. including that he is an amazing sexy vampirrrre.

From:
Heidis Ofamin RN:

Like everyone else said, it's that he is romantic and sweet, almost perfect. Most girls just want their own Edward Cullen. Plus, it doesn't hurt that he's a vampire. They are so often made out to be beautiful and "hot".

Then i told them...Mao Bah?? hehehe
From the hot quotes that Ive mentioned above, that's what girls want to hear now, I guess. But no boys are like that. Ever. And we can't forget that he *~*~sparklez~*~*!!!!!

Eating Disorders in Boys

Photobucket

It used to be that eating disorders and body image disturbances affected mainly girls. A growing number of boys and young men are also using steroids and body-manipulating supplements. While the numbers are on the increase, there are few prevention programs that are developed specifically for boys. Programs that include both boys and girls fail to address the impact of gender.

Even before birth, boys and girls are wired to march to different drummers because of differences in the structure of their brains. Male brains are more compartmentalized and specialized than female brains. They are task oriented and therefore activity is more important than interpersonal connection. Because the male brain is designed for logical problem-solving, it can often take boys longer than girls to process emotional data. Boys smell, taste and hear less well, and get less input and soothing feedback from tactile information. Boys are more aggressive and impulsive because they receive more testosterone and less serotonin than girls.

Socialization also plays a major part in how boys interact with the world. Until they are 9 or 10 years old many can readily access a wide range of feelings. As they mature and enter puberty, societal pressures to conform to a rigid ideal of masculinity are intensified. Boys are rewarded for showing their action-oriented side and for demonstrating physical prowess. They become skilled at masking feelings of vulnerability, weakness and depression and avoid expressing sadness, grief, fear, loneliness, anxiety, and hurt. In adolescence many boys hide their feelings behind a mask of bravado in order to appear confident, tough, and in control. Soon the mask defines the only way of being that they know

Preventing eating disorders and body image disturbances is about helping boys develop resilience and learn skills so that they can deal with stressors in a healthy way.

A Dimple Smile

PhotobucketA fortune teller, (My Mother), has told me many times that I will be very successful in my work as a Nurse . But then I can loose it overnight because of one thing. I never really understood it or had the care for it. Until some time recently, I just realize that my heart skip beats whenever I meet a girl that has a pretty smile, and it skips even more beats when the smile comes with a dimple. Come to realization, this is very dangerous for me. I don’t mind helping out the ones that are really in need. But if the girl(s) know of this weakness and take advantage of it, them I’m doomed. Money and materials that are lost can be earned again. Time and feelings are what I’m most concerned with because those are the things that no matter how much money you have, you cannot even come close to earning them back.

So to those cute ones out there with a nice smile and a dimple, please be genuine. There is such thing as KARMA. Trust me!

Having Two Wives? Oh Mah God!

Photobucket

Here I am again..talking secrets about my self...Hmmmmnn.

I had a conversation with my mom yesterday about my career and love life. She reminded me that my love life sucks. She reminded the time that the fortune teller told me that if I am married before I’m 30, I will end up having 2 wives. A few years ago, I was pretty nervous about that. Well, at first, I was childish about it. I thought to myself, “Oh, cool. I get to marry to 2 girls. The more the better.” But then as I was dating more and more and got hurt more and more, I realized 2 is way too much. It is already extremely difficult to find 1 good one. How are you supposed find 2? Basically what the fortune teller meant was that if I get married before I’m 30, I’ll divorce the first one and re-married again. But now, I am 23, I am no where near that. Not even close. Not even a candidate in site. Well a couple candidates, but I don’t think any of them would want or like someone like me. I don’t know. I just don’t get the vibe from them. I just don’t know what the problem is. I just know that I tend to be attracted to those that are not attracted to me. Pretty bad idea huh? I know.

Anyway, I just really, really want 1. Just 1 that knows and shares the similar life values. Then I can die happily the next day.

Death is painfull, so stay away from knifes ....
Death is not for lovers, so dont die ....
Death is not for me, so dont even try...

Smoke Cool

Photobucket

I like the cool and heft of it, dull metal on the palm,
And the click, the hiss, the spark fuming into flame,
Boldface of fire, the rage and sway of it, raw blue at the base
And a slope of gold, a touch to the packed tobacco, the tip
Turned red as a warning light, blown brighter by the breath,
The pull and the pump of it, and the paper's white
Smoothed now to ash as the smoke draws back, drawn down
To the black crust of lungs, tar and poisons in the pink,
And the blood sorting it out, veins tight and the heart slow,
The push and wheeze of it, a sweep of plumes in the air
Like a shako of horses dragging a hearse through the late centennium,
London, at the end of December, in the dark and fog.

Paramore - Decode Music Video - These bloopers are hilarious

Paramore Lyrics
Decode Lyrics

To mY Green LapTop

My dear, trusty, ageless friend,
How good these days
That never end.

My eyes reflect
Your glowing light.
You're there for me
At day and

I come, you're on.
I'm gone, you yawn.

We're friends. We are!
Won't fall apart.
And it's OK with you
If I accidentally fart.

A Dog to Remember

there are tears literally streaming down my face..It hits so close to your heart. i've had my dog for nine years, and he's reminded me of many things us humans tend to forget about when we get caught up in the world and all it's petty problems. I know how it feels to love something very much.like a delicate gem in your heart that will always be with you.like saying goodbye to something very precious.if they are gone, your building will collasps.love will still be yours when your gone.

When I was a Nursing Student

Way back 2001-2005.I was a very naughty student during my nursing college days. Does not follow the appropriate uniform at times, always arrives late during our scheduled clinical rotations, does not listen to endorsements and sometimes instead of giving appropriate quality nursing care i'll end up spending my duty hours on a "complete bed rest" mode (sleeping)...

Once, during a clinical rotation in a medical-surgical ward, a Doctor asked a volunteer to check the CR (or the cardiac rate) of an unstable cardiac patient. Willing to impress my instructor because of my earlier mischief during that day (arriving 30 minutes late for our clinical rotation)...I volunteered to do that simple task.

The doctor instructed me to check the CR (cardiac rate) for 1 full minute and to report back to him at once. So, full of confidence and pride at my abilities, I went to the room of the patient. Unfortunately, during that time I dont know what CR meant in the nursing profession. But I know one thing, in the Philippines there is an another meaning for the C.R. abbreviation: Comfort Room.

Now, instead of checking the cardiac rate of the patient, i went directly to the patient's comfort room and assessed his toilet bowl for 1 minute to see if it is functioning properly.

After 1 minute of "proper assessment", i went back with a sense of accomplishment of achieving someting out of nothing and i am imagining at that time that my clinical instructor will be prooud of me and my past mistakes to her will be forgotten.

After arriving at the nurses station, the doctor asked me "Is my patient's CR (cardiac rate) okay?". I replied her on a matter-of-fact: "Doctor the patient's CR (comfort room) is A-okay, the toilet is flushing and you could use it if you want too."

After saying that I noticed that the doctor, my group mates and most of the nursing staff are laughing at me and my clinical instructor's face is flushing with shame and anger.

My Clinical Instructor pull me at one side of the room and told me that the doctor instructed to check the CR (Cardiac Rate) of the patient not his CR (Comfort Room).

So because of that incident, i spent 4 hours of payment duty at that ward during that day as my payment for my mischief and i was known in our graduating class as "Brilliam The:Mr.C.R."
